The next AIHPS Roundtable/Seminar event will be advertised by June 2007.
Consumer Engagement Project
The Interview Outcomes report is now available.
This paper discusses the themes emerging from a series of qualitative interviews exploring the use of consumer engagement in policy development. The interviews were part of a research project conducted by the Australian Institute of Health Policy Studies (AIHPS) to examine consumer engagement in Australian health policy.
The Project Framework and Literature Review are also available for download.
AIHPS Website
Over the coming months, the AIHPS website will be going under re-construction to assist in the dissemination of all AIHPS information and resources. We would welcome your feedback and comments as the site is upgraded.
The first section of the site, the Roundtable pages and related documents, has now been completed.

AIHPS Spotlight
Each month we get an insight of our AIHPS members - this month's "Spotlight" is on Robyn McDermott...
What is your current position?
Pro Vice Chancellor and Vice President, Division of Health Sciences,
University of South Australia.
What is your role in AIHPS?
I represent the University of SA as an academic partner in the AIHPS.
What motivated you to work in the health sector/chosen field?
I studied medicine in Sydney in the 1970's as a way of running away from home (Canberra) then found working as a rural doctor gave opportunities for using emergency and procedural skills, and also adventure. I have lived and worked in Antarctica, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Phillipines, China, Samoa, the USA, Mongolia as well as remote parts of the NT and north Queensland. Working with Indigenous people converted me to public health and looking at the obvious and not-so-obvious social determinants of health.
What do you hope to achieve in your position?
To find effective ways of closing the evidence-policy loop in health, including the links between investing in early development and better health in disadvantaged populations.
